WORKING HARD TO DO GOOD

HOW DOES THE "ART IS A NECESSITY" PROGRAM WORK?

Art of of Recycle's program involves providing free art materials to local organizations who are in need of art materials for their students/clients because their organization's activity programs do not include enough funds for quality art materials.

WHO QUALIFIES?

Any organization, teacher, caretaker or facilitator who is directly involved with providing arts and crafts activities for children, senior or people with special needs.

  • Senior Centers
  • Teachers
  • Homeschoolers
  • Libraries
  • Youth Clubs
  • Organizations facilitating people with special needs

WHAT AND HOW MUCH CAN ART OF RECYCLE SUPPLY?

If you are looking for small quantities of items for a craft involving 20 or less students then the process is simple:

Visit Art of Recycle and pre-register your organization at the register counter by showing ID and a business card or letter head with your organization's logo and EIN# if applicable. Shop in Art of Recycle's Thrifty Craft Store and then log your purchases in the book behind the counter. Your purchases will be free.

Because art is a fundamental need. Art is probably one of the most stress relieving and therapeutic ways of healing your body and mind.

We believe that art and music belong in the same category as diet and exercise, and people who are robbed of the ability to create art because of economic hardship live a life of the lowest quality.

Art of Recycle is doing this because of YOU.

YOUR donations make it all happen.

Art of Recycle accepts almost everything when it comes to donations. Because we are an Art Center rather than a thrift store, stuff that you might normally consider junk could actually be a significant art material.

A simple way of judging what is a good item to donate is to determine whether it is re-usable in any form and the best way to do that is to look at the list of items we do not accept.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT:

  • Trash (food, soiled items)
  • Moldy items
  • Smoky or smelly items
  • Press Board Furniture
  • Televisions
  • Plastics, glass, cardboard and magazines that can go in your recycling bin

Everything else we accept.

We are open 9am to 6pm Monday through Saturday. Closed Sunday.

Donations can be brought in through any door and left with our volunteers/staff. There is no limit on how much or how little you may donate.

Yes, we do pickups. Please call us or e-mail us to determine if you are within our travel area to arrange a pickup. We can assist with packing items as well as lifting/moving items if you are unable to do so.

We are often asked what are AoR's greatest needs:

Our greatest need is the funds to pay our staff.

We are looking for a panel van or small bus

We can never have enough googly eyes

Wine Bottles and Corks

There's a very short list of things that we don't accept at Art of Recycle.

Televisions

Press Board Furniture

Moldy, Smoky or Smelly Things

Things that can be placed in your recycle bin

For everything else, we can find a use, or get it to an organization that can use it.
