Art of Recycle’s programs impact hundreds of thousands of individuals and their family members. The impact keeps on multiplying as it reverberates throughout our communities in multiple facets. Better education and better instruction combined with better activities make a better and more harmonic society. Education improves lives, minimizes the possibility of homelessness, increases employment prospects, makes better communities, decreases crime and more.
To show the impact that Art of Recycle is having on our society, we are using this impact page to list the organizations that are collecting free resources from AoR’s resource center, the resources that they are receiving, who is being served, and the amount of people that are being served by those organizations.
Art of Recycle’s Resource Center distributes new and gently used teaching resources that are donated by teachers, the general public, retail thrift stores, and other local businesses. Our staff does their best to stock the resource center with the best and most useful teaching supplies that our organization receives. Many items are new in package or in like-new condition. All products, like markers and pens, are tested to ensure that they are in working condition.
Art of Recycle tracks impact by providing every teacher with an impact reporting form every time they receive teaching supplies from AoR. Every teacher and Activity Director must fill out an impact form that reports wha resources they are taking, who the resources are going to, and how many people will be impacted.
It is nearly impossible for any organization to measure exact impact, because we will never know how our direct impact affects the entire community as a whole.
Art of Recycle tracks the value of the teaching resources in AoR’s resource center by applying a set value to each item. The value is determined by what AoR would have sold those items for at the lowest price possible.
The cost from a retail store, as new merchandise, would be greater than 10x AoR’s value set. At AoR, teachers receive educational resources at no expense to them. AoR does charge a yearly application fee to determine a non-profit or school’s eligibility.
Art of Recycle is a non-biased organization. Beliefs, race, customs and religion do not factor into an organization’s eligibility. An organization’s authenticity, and the verification that the individual that is picking up resources has permission to receive resources in that school or organization’s name, is what matters to our staff. We want to be 100% certain that the people an organization is serving are receiving these educational resources.
It is a lot of work that AoR’s staff puts into raising the funds to make AoR’s programs successful, and we want to know that our work and our donors dollars and resources are being used for their intended purposes.
Art of Recycle founders are sociologists who are always thinking ten years into the future. They understand the importance of creating long-term equity within our communities. One of the best ways to generate social equity is through education and skills training.
While researching the best methodologies of creating the greatest long-term strategies, they discovered that most educational facilities and non-profits lacked the ability to create enriching classes because of the lack of expendable resources due to minimal budgets. Most programs did not need money, they needed resources to teach. At the same time, resources and tools are being wasted and thrown in the trash because companies and individuals are limited in ways to dispose of their excess In a constructive and productive manner.
Volunteer!
Art of Recycle is always seeking out volunteers to help with different tasks that our organization is in need of.
